Blowing in the WInd

An older man laid down on his bed. He suffered from the heat of summer in the old hospital that missed the air-condition. The pavement went just along the side of the wooden house, and voices from the street came indoors to the first floor where the man spent the last moments of his life. This evening was a more restless night than usual because of Midsummer eve.

Now and then, some people stopped under the window and changed news. Nurses went immediately to the window and asked people to leave because they were disturbing the palliative care patients. The older man was alone in the room and didn’t get annoyed when he heard people’s voices. They made him forget his situation, but he didn’t forbid nurses to do their job.

Around nine p.m., some youngsters parked under the window. One of them has a guitar, and he or she played it well. Again one of the nurses ran to the window to make people away. Then the older man said:

”Let them be there. Youngster’s talk makes me feel happy.”

The nurse was uncertain. The patient’s wish was odd, and she was afraid of getting reproaches from the chief nurse if she is let people make noises outdoors. She went out of the room to consult her boss. She was surprised when Mrs. Clayton said: ”You can fulfill the man’s wish because he is alone in the room, and upstairs is also empty.”

When she got back to the patient room, the youngster has become louder, but Mr. Smith was smiling. The nurse, Mrs. Kind, informed his patient what Clayton told her. The evening went on, and the youngsters were singing now—some reason they like to sing old folk songs from the sixties. When the nurse Kind came to see him at ten o’clock, he asked:

”Could you ask them to sing Bob Dylan’s song from the sixties?” She did what the patient asked.

At eleven o’clock, when she came to see Mr. Smith once more, she heard the youngsters were singing ”Blowing in the wind.” The older man has a smiling face and teardrop on his cheek. Mrs. Kind didn’t feel the pulse on her patient’s warm wrist. She walked to the window and said:

”Thank you.”

The young people looked surprised, and the guitar player said:

”Why”?

”Heaven knows,” replied the nurse.

Selaillessani vanhoja muistiinpanojani vastaan tuli Lita på din arm –runo.

Unu poemo en esperanto, One Poem in Esperanto

Note:
All links are to English written forums except Suomen Esperantoliitto ry, but Esperanto USA link immediately below that link.

Katsotaan.)

Esperanto on suunnitelmakieli, jonka loi jo 1800 -luvun lopulla puolalainen silmälääkäri Ludwik Zamenhof.

Niiden kirjoittaminen Windowsissa on lukemani perusteella vaikeaa.

Kirjoittamiseen paras ohjelma on LibreOffice, johon saa esperanton oikolukulisäosan.

A Prisoner of Consumption

I’m sickened tired of this,
And I want to sleep so
I won’t wake up.
However, I don’t
Stop shopping,
Which is what
Pissed me off.

Afterwords

I just watched a television documentary about artificial intelligence and its potential dangers. The authors of the program consider the observation and manipulation of people to be alarming phenomena. Against this background, my ”Prisoner of Consumption” poem took on a new dimension. In addition to the fact that algorithms control our consumption, we have been consuming robots before the information technology revolution.

The poem describes how this maneuver tears the soul and what options you have, mostly if you do not own the land and cultivate it. The landless human being can’t go into the forest as a hermit when a private person or state owns it.

A Sparrow On The Window Ledge

The day before yesterday, I was down by the blue riverside and didn’t know how to pull myself together. Finally, I prayed that Lord relieved me from the pain that was tearing me into pieces. I fell asleep without getting any help. After a while, I waked up because I felt that a bird was singing in my room. It was on the window ledge, but the window was open. I peeped behind the curtain, and I saw a little sparrow who sang from the bottom of its heart. It was slightly downy so that it has stared its first summer and everything was new for it. I knocked the window gently to get its attention, but it didn’t respond. When I added the volume, it almost fell from the ledge before it flew away. I managed to snap many pictures but only reached its back.

This incident helped me, but only a moment. The dark clouds started to gather around me again. I crept back to my bed even it was sunny noon. I was on the twilight light zone when I heard a muffled bump. “Too heavy approaching,” I smiled and checked that everything was all right. Yes, my savior from heaven sat again on the window ledge and perhaps thought: “What was that. I didn’t see anything”. I dressed and went out, saying to myself: “If that small creature has the strength to move on, I can’t be worse.”

On My Own Path

On My Own Path, Yelling Rosa

Lyrics

On My Own Path
I’m not the one
they say I am.
I have never been
What they’re saying.
I am somebody nobody knows.
And now I’m leaving
all this behind.
On my own path I hear how
The golden fairy sings
The silver ballad to me.
The wild horses run in the forest
That is repeating forever love.

Thank you my Lord for giving me light in loneliness
by telling me it’s not a sin to be alone,
if you are made fun of being you.
On my own path I hear how
The golden fairy sings
The silver ballad to me.
The wild horses run in the forest
That is repeating forever love.
вечную

YES FOR THE U-TURN

When I Was

When I was a little boy, I liked to sit in the forest
And looking at how the wind lulled the leaves,
And grass and my reddish hair.
Soon I was sure that all living things breathed
in the same beat, and most of the times,
The harmony rules all beings of the earth.
I told my parents about this happiness
But they weren’t happy.
They worried that the child
isn’t healthy.
At the age of ten, I stood on the bus platform
And we watched how to thick smoke came
From the tailpipes of the vehicles.
I asked my friend would all that gas
Disappear in the air.
He laughed at me:
Of course, it will vanish.
His attitude insults me
And I added angrily:
If it didn’t, there should be
The hole in the sky
For it to go away,
But that whole
Is not possible,
Cause the air
Would die away.
On the sixth grade
I said to my teacher
Who looked down on her
Nose the animal kingdom,
That animals have feelings
And they even think.
The teacher of the biology
Commended me out of the class:
”You are disturbing the lesson.”
When I was at my middle ages
They started globalization.
I realized right away that it wouldn’t
Work in the long run,
But people considered
Me to be a pessimist.
Just now I see
How the virus cor20 and more
Is behind the corner, but nobody cares.
They are sure that everything is back normal
After some months or so.
The world doesn’t need any extra cautions.

I have been in two minds about publishing this poem. I know that people won’t believe anything in time, but the reason for this poem can be elsewhere. I let you decide what it might be. I deny the comments this time because I have no patience to listen to how it wouldn’t be time for U-turn to save humankind.

Always when someone is talking about the U-turn, the message is argued against by saying that humankind can’t go backward. For them, I reply that how many milliards years it is backward when the globe is not surrounded by decent oxygen.

YES FOR GOING BACK TO THE 18th CENTURY

Joulupuu on rakennettu–Christmas Tree –

I upload this article here now in good time so that people will be aware of it this Carol in English at this Xmas. The annually Christmas Post Card will come later on.

Joulupuu on rakennettu -laulu on julkaistu vuonna 1876. Tuolloin vanha suomalainen kansanlaulu sai ensimmäiset jälkipolville tutut sanansa, jotka kirjoitti kirkkoherra Gustaf Oskar Schöneman (1839 – 1894). Laulu oli osa Uusi Kuva Aapinen –kirjaa.

Säestykseni on tarkoituksella se perinteinen, jonka me kaikki suomalaiset olemme koulussa kuulleet.

You can enlarge The Music Sheet by opening it in New Tap.

Christmas Tree song (Joulupuu on rakennettu) is old Finnish folklore. It became a Christmas Carol in 1876 when Vicar Gustaf Oskar Schöneman (1839 – 1894) wrote words for it. Children have always liked the song. They want to sing it while dancing around the Christmas tree. My accompaniment is very traditional, and I believe that it is the best option when you want to learn the song in English.

More Action Less Talk

I watched the TV report young people against climate change this weekend in Finland. Reporters interviewed some of them, and it revealed that their knowledge was limited. They shifted responsibility to decision-makers. On the other hand, some journalists seemed amused by the energy of the youngsters. Then there was this Swedish environmental activist, Greta Thunberg, who gave a fiery speech at the United Nations Climate Change Conference on 23 September 2019. He openly accused adult people partly with reason, but the accusation is no more than a charge, whereby the goal itself is buried under the finger of the index.

The world is in a position where everyone has to give up comfort and come up with constructive suggestions to bring about change. Moreover, these changes must begin immediately. For example, when detecting the harmfulness of private motoring, governments could adjust the dates for prohibiting private motoring. These and other similar decisions would get people used to what purer living means instead of blaming.  In reality, very few people have to use a private car in Finland for business trips.
I wondered how goods are thrown into the trash when there is only one small broken particle. To reduce this, the European Union should develop standards defining standards for serial production parts. This way, all computer cases would be matched, all batteries would work on all similar devices, operating systems should work on all processors, so this incompatibility would not leave the devices in boxes or landfill. The ballpoint pen cartridges would fit into all pen cases, and the top and bottom of the pens would be standardized for twisted standards. These recyclables would create enormous jobs, and in the future would no longer necessarily sell whole equipment but only parts that a new profession would install. The consumer would not buy the device, but for a particular kind of overall service. As this increase in recycling would reduce manufacturers' income, they should be allowed to implement this change.

The governments should regulate Holiday tourism by setting a kilometer or emission limit for an individual. Buying these kilometers from other people must also be made impossible. Otherwise the poor would sell them to the better-paid ones. The need for such restrictions would be eliminated if the vehicles became pollution-free. The device manufacturers' promises of less polluting cars should not be taken as actions to slow down climate change. Global activity is almost criminal because it slows down and often also eliminates local production of services and products and recycling of parts.
While these suggestions may not be the best ones, they are a step in the right direction. Implementing change is the most challenging step in combating climate change. An action that everyone hates and accuses each other of taking more significant steps to combat practical steps. Sure, this is not a conscious activity, but in the face of change, emotions are on the surface so that excesses will come. Besides, an attack is the best defense. Now, however, the world is at the point that it cannot attack but merely defend the right of future generations to exist.

This writing started with a poem that marvels at human beings. It goes like this

I don't know why human beings are so strange.
The world is in its death bed,
But human beings only invent excuses
Why changes are impossible to realize.
Juveniles accuse adults
And adults say youths are dreamers.
Both sides think that we should not save
The world as those people hurt earth more
Than us.

PS Maybe one of the readers is wondering if that guy can afford to suggest more difficult things to people's lives. He/she is right in the sense that we all are destroying our nest here. Don't worry, yes, I love amenities and suffer the loss, but now we are in a situation where attitudes have to change.

The consumption virus

Please enlarge the picture by clicking it!

Do you know what this is?

It is a consumption virus that lives almost in every person's veins in the world. It hates everything that stops consumption and whispers to master animal's ear why people can't hold down consumption. One of its most persuasive arguments is that you can't go backward. In its view, increasing human resources is an absolute move into the Dark Ages. Even for the Stone Age, says the consumption virus.

Despite the efforts of responsible people, the impoverishment of the earth and the rape of the climate continue. The viruses tell to their disease carriers to call those environment activists as the modern-day destroyers. Every time the disease carrier manages to win the debate, the virus lays more eggs to master's cells. However, I wonder whose greed and thoughtlessness these creatures drink when people have disappeared from the planet. Perhaps then they are happy and sit on the top of the hill, saying, "We are the last to ride to the sunset."

The picture is an enlargement of the consumption virus.

PS Usually, viruses don't lay eggs, but these are weird.
